Drawing Blog

I understand drawing like a jazz musician understands sound. If I were to teach my eight-year-old self drawing, I would do so as a jazz musician. I wouldn't teach any songs. I would strictly focus on the instrument. I would strongly encourage my eight-year-old self (pictured here) to experiment and find my own voice. I wouldn’t teach standards. I would teach the instrument and encourage the student to learn songs on their own. The instrument for these lessons of course is the number 2 pencil.
